Having graduated from Marmara University Faculty of Medicine in 1995 with first degree., and awarded the ECFMG certificate in the last year of the Faculty of Medicine, which is required to be a doctor in the United States, Prof. Dr. Selçuk Yücel has indeed the magnificent career.
In the same year, he started his assistantship in Marmara University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Urology and in 2000 he received his urology specialty. During his assistantship, he performed his General Surgery rotation at Harvard University,Massachusetts General Hospital, General Surgery Department.
2001-Present
2000-2001 worked as a urologist at Acıbadem Hospital.
2001: started as clinical instructor at Akdeniz University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Urology.
2001-2003: worked as a research fellow at the University of California San Francisco, Pediatric Urology Unit.
- These studies received the Jack Lapides Neurourology and Urodynamics awards, the California Urology Foundation award, and the European Urology Association Pediatric Urology award for two years in a row. At the University of California San Francisco, he increased his experience in reconstructive and functional urology on the treatment of urethral strictures, penile disorders and urinary incontinence in men and women.
2004: part of Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Departent of Urology as visiting professor.
2004-2007: Assistant professor at Akdeniz University Department of Urology.
2005-2006: Renewing his ECFMG certificate, hand working as clinical fellow at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center between. During this training, he worked on issues such as urinary tract infections, vesicoureteral reflux, prenatal hydronephrosis, hypospadias, congenital penile disorders, undescended testis, spina bifida, urinary incontinence and laparoscopic surgery.
2006: Received the title of Associate Professor in 2006,
- Dr. Selçuk Yücel was invited to the training course of trainers on reconstructive and functional urology by the European Urology Association in 2008 and focused on urinary incontinence, bladder, uterine and vaginal prolapse, male and female genital cosmetic disorders, penile diseases, urethral strictures, unsuccessful hypospadias repairs and fistulas, gained advanced experience.
2011: he has been to Cleveland Clinic Foundation Department of Urology as visiting professor.
2012-2013: chairman of urology at Antalya State Research and Training Hospital Urology Clinic.
2011-2014: worked as professor in urology and chief of pediatric urology at Akdeniz University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Urology.
2014-2018: professor in urology and chief of pediatric urology, functional, reconstructive and prosthetic surgery at Acibadem Mehmet Ali Aydınlar University Department of Urology.
2018 until now: working as professor in urology and chief of pediatric urology at Marmara University Department of Urology. Besides, he performs from his private office in Fulya Akademi, Polat Tower Residence in Istanbul.
